Office for Civil Rights Resources
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Office of the Chancellor is charged with reviewing and monitoring Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to ensure that the colleges and universities comply with federal Civil Rights laws and policies. In addition, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities promotes awareness and understanding of the compliance responsibilities at the community and technical colleges on the behalf of the federal Department of Education and the Office for Civil Rights.
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities' compliance activities include:
- Periodic workshops for campus compliance officers, Title IX Officers, Disability Services Coordinators, Affirmative Action Officers, and those individuals charged with investigating discrimination and harassmentcomplaints. In addition workshops are frequently held for faculty and other college personnel.
- Annual on-site campus compliance reviews.
- Biennial compliance reports to the United States Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights.
All schools receiving funds through the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act are required to comply with federal nondiscrimination laws. The U.S. Office of Education, Office for Civil Rights monitors this compliance requirement.
